Amateur School

Freedom Paragliding is in its third decade of continuous operation in Greece. All this time, we have consistently fulfilled our duty towards our students. In the process of helping pilots evolve we, too, have been evolving, in order to be able to offer the knowledge, equipment and training required to SAFELY see the world from high up in the sky. All our trainers hold valid Hellenic Aeronautical and Airsports Federation licenses. In addition to providing proper training, we aspire to get our students interested in air sports and impart all the knowledge required so that flying and having fun goes hand-in-hand with safety.

Safety has to be the predominant concern at every single stage of our development in flying. Pilots need to develop gradually, in small, steady steps. Maximum safety and performance require solid foundations and always rely on the human factor.
The lessons take place either at Plataies (Boeotia) or at Kandili (Megara), both one hour away from Athens.
At Freedom, apart from the basic training rules we are legally bound to apply, we go one step further and also take into account several unwritten laws that have resulted from our extensive experience. Our end-goal is for pilots to evolve and have fun safely.

When it comes to equipment, we do not cut corners. We use only the best equipment according to international standards, and we renew it every year so that every item in your equipment is always brand new.

Paragliding training is a long road with many rewards at every stage. Basic training is divided into three stages:

Ground-handling (ground):
First contact with equipment. Students learn how to properly handle the equipment on the ground.
Low flights (hill):
First flights. Students fly at an altitude of 10-60 meters to become accustomed with taking off and landing. They also learn how to guide the paraglider in the air. This stage lasts 3-4 days.
High flights (350 m):
The pinnacle of student and trainer effort. Flying at high altitude is quite exciting, as students get to stay in the air longer than before. It is at this stage that students comprehend what free flying is all about. This stage lasts 6 days.
Theoretical courses
Each stage includes three-hour theoretical courses on aerodynamics, meteorology, mechanics and flying techniques.
After the school
After basic training, pilots have a crystallised view about how they wish to move forward with paragliding. Whether they wish to keep on flying only for pleasure or they wish to pursue competitive flying, Freedom provides several training seminars for every pilot level. Paragliding training never ends.
